The texture of the month

2024 is an 8 year, the harvest. August 2024 is a 7 month (8 + 8 = 16 → 7). Seven is the seeker, the retreat, the inward turn.

A 7 month in an 8 year is the harvest year's necessary pause. The year is busy collecting, but August asks why. Without this pause, the harvest can become a treadmill, more of the same forever, with no underlying coherence.

What this month is asking

Slow down enough to ask whether the yield you are gathering is the yield you actually want. The 7 month is uncomfortable in a productive year because it does not permit busyness. It demands reflection.

Three practices for August:

• Take a week off the harvest. Even four days. Read, walk, sit. The 7 month will pay it back in September.
• Ask: what is the harvest for? Money is the visible answer. There are others underneath, more honest.
• Notice what you have been avoiding. The 7 month surfaces the conversation, the decision, the truth that the busy work has been crowding out.

Harvest without reflection is just labour with better numbers.
